How do you interact with people in the world? How do your children interact with peers, family members, teachers, and others? Sometimes a person’s communication style reflects underlying anxiety and self-esteem issues, and can increase or decrease anxiety.
Most of us feel best when our families are together. But as our children grow, we tend to spend more time apart for a variety of reasons. Some children adjust easily to this change. Others have more difficulty. It’s understandable to miss the people we love. But what if your child is so focused on missing you that he or she misses out on other things, too?
Feeling worried or anxious sometimes is part of being a person, so it's not surprising that all kids experience some anxiety from time to time. Depending on the child's age and development, situational anxiety may be felt when separating from parents or caregivers, reading aloud at school or when trying to join a social group.
